One hundred forty-four party list organizations were given go-signal by the Commission on Election to vie for 57 seats in the House of Representatives in the 2010 elections.

The Comelec approved the 144 partylist as part of the 33-page Resolution No. 8744 Friday afternoon.

Comelec official said the agency have been carefully selected by knowing the party-lists’  track records, programs of action, and their nationwide visibility and influence to the people.

The controversial “Ang Ladlad,” a gay rights group partylist, was included in the list after they appealed the Comelec ruling to the Supreme Court.

Comelec official stated Ang Ladlad’s status may still change if the Supreme court decides to disqualify the group.

Comelec also added that the 144 approved party-list groups shoulda list of five nominees each or those who will take House seats in case they are elected before March 6.

The list of the nominees will be published and publicized by the Comelec so the public can check the background  of each group and their representatives.
